Intro to Night Sky Photography Workshop
Capture the beauty of the night sky! Attend our FREE Intro to Night Sky Photography Workshop and learn tips to photograph the Milky Way and auroras. This is geared towards DSLR/Mirrorless cameras, but we will provide some basic settings you can try on your phone.
This free workshop will be held at the Claire Nelson Center in Finland at 6:15 pm, Saturday, October 26th. Be sure to bring warm clothes as we hope to have an outdoor hands-on session to the first 25 people that register immediately following the classroom session.
We recommend bringing the following gear:
- Camera
- Full-frame, ASP-C (Crop Sensors) or Micro 4/3,
- DSLR or Mirrorless
- We will briefly discuss settings for phone photography, but this will not be focus of the class
- Lenses
- Wide angle is recommended to fit more of the sky into your shot
- Fast/wide aperture lenses of F1.4 to F2.8 are ideal; F4 lenses will work, but are not ideal
- Tripod
- Remote Shutter Release (or know how to use shutter delay or timer on your camera)
- A small flashlight or headlamp – preferably RED
- Extra camera batteries
IMPORTANT: You should have a basic understanding of manual mode and be familiar with your camera’s buttons, dials and menu system.
Classroom session is limited only by room size, but the hands-on portion is limited to 25 people: reserve your spot here:
If for some reason, you cannot make it to the class, PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP so that we may open up your spot to the wait list.
